The system comes in 2021 and the OBFCM then undergoes a five-year trial. Then it is checked whether the results are satisfactory. And only then would it be possible to discuss additional taxes for inefficient drivers. At present it is not yet technically possible for this data to be supplied to the EU. For now, the only punishment for people with a heavy right foot is an extra visit to the pump – where, in the form of excise duties, the tax actually already exists.
